The bursary scheme is based on the achievements of the learners. There are two different programmes, which are only valid for government schools.
1.) Bursary scheme with the following objectives
Financial assistance (payment of school fees for the next school year) of learners in secondary schools – based on their achievements.
The best performers in Grade 8, 9, 10, 11
The learners with the most remarkable improvement from the half-year report to the year-end report
The learner with the most remarkable social engagement
That means a maximum of nine students per school could benefit from the programme.
Currently selected schools from the north, Windhoek, Otjiwarongo, Rehoboth and Kalkfeld are participating in the programme.
2.) Special programme for excellent learners
"Kinderhilfe in Namibia e. V." is assisting selected primary schools with the following programme.
The two best performing learners of these schools are qualified for the refund of their school and hostel fees until they finish Grade 12.
3.) Humanitarian assistance
There are also some funds available for humanitarian assistance of children. In general we can assume, that the whole programme is very motivating for the learners.
The School Development Programme
The main activity of „Kinderhilfe in Namibia e. V.“ is actually the support of self help projects of local communities. The organization realised the need for classrooms, pre-primary schools, kindergardens and school equipment. The organisation also acknowlegded the existing commitment in many communities to contribute to the development for the benefit of their children.
„Kinderhilfe in Namibia e. V.“ has decided not to cover the cost of labour, this is seen as the neccessary committment of the local community. The support of institutions, which are involved in the education process, is as follows:
Building material for the construction and renovation of class rooms
Building material for the construction and renovation of pre-primary schools
Building material for the construction, upgrading and renovation of kindergardens
Material for maintenance/renovation/upgrading of hostels
Building material for the improvement of the infrastructure, e.g. store rooms, sport facilities and toilets
Educational equipment
For some big projects „Kinderhilfe in Namibia“ received funding form „Sternstunden“ (Benefiz programme of Bavarian Broadcasting), Irma-Pfeifer-Foundation, BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development).
